Our spring and summer show seasons were extremely successful! Congratulations to everyone on a job well done! Sophie De Leo kicked it off to a great start at the Old Salem Charity show weeks one and two, with an outstanding job in the leadline class with her pony P.J! Chloe came out the second week, her first time and P.J’s first time in the short stirrup divisions taking home handfuls of ribbons! The newest members of our show team Emma and Belle Hop have also been very successful in the pre-children’s divisions at Old Salem Charity and Fox Hill so far this season. Savannah showed Mona Lisa in the Charity show at Old Salem this spring earning a lovely third on the flat and ribbons over fences, and since then has been showing her young horse Sky in the short stirrup hunter and pre-children’s divisions, earning many wonderful ribbons. Most recently being reserve champion in the hunters at crosswinds, and reserve champion in the pre-children’s eq. at Fox Hill.
Paige and Rolling Hill’s Contessa have really kicked off their partnership winning the champion ribbon in the adult hunters at Gardnertown, and being 2nd and 3rd over fences at Old Salem.
Top Gun has been busy building his show record this summer, and has been placing well in the Low hunters.
Everyone had a great time at the Crosswinds July horse show, Soledad and Mona Lisa bringing home the champion ribbon in the pleasure classes, Buzz and Sofia bringing home the reserve champion in the pre-short stirrup division, and sister cecelia as well with handfuls of ribbons in the pre-short stirrup.
As for our jumpers, Lasse had a great show at Old Salem Charity out on the grand prix field in the schooling jumpers lvl 3, lvl 4; and now he is campaigning in the high hunter divisions. Amanda has had a wonderful season showing Collin so far. Placing in the lvl. 4 open class at Old Salem charity, and taking home the blue in the 1.40 meter open class at Ox Ridge charity. Hilke and Percyy have also been very successful in the jumper divisions all the way up through lvl. 6 at HITS this summer, while Gustav has been champion or reserve every time out with Percyy as well. Hilke has also had a great season showing in the combined training divisions, coming home with the blue ribbon on Everett and second place with Percyy at the Mistover show. Linda and Lana have been busy showing all summer at HITS, Ox-Ridge and Fairfield, in the Adult Jumpers, while Marina has started campaigning Tenderly in the hunter and equitation divisions.
With the rainy season lasting all summer it has been hard to escape down to Bedford to ride on the BRLA, but we did manage to fit a nice relaxing trail ride in, Al and Richmond, Paige and Contessa, Reiner and Collin, Kim and Top Gun, Maria and Belle, and Amanda with Lasse. The horses were wonderful and happy to be out of the ring, and everyone throughly enjoyed themselves!
Collin has been a wonderful asset to our show string, winning a class of 80 entries in the lvl 3 jumpers, and 8th in the lvl. 5 division at Old Salem this fall.
We have had some lovely trips to Bedford, hacking out all morning on the BRLA trails (Bedford Riding Lanes). On our latest excursion Reiner happily rode Mona Lisa, while Hilke and Gustav took Percyy and Everett, Amanda rode Collin, and they were all happy to be out of the ring and jumping around on the outdoor cross country courses.
The new facility is turning out to be even more fabulous than predicted. On our "honeymoon" weekend here, we enjoyed the most beautiful fall weather. The horses settled quickly and comfortably in their new home, and everyone was happy riding out on the 1/2 mile track soaking up the sun shine and the beautiful setting at Haviland Hollow farm. The facilities are functioning perfectly, and the footing is excellent, this farm is the ideal horseman’s playground.
